Effect on Prolactin

Cabergoline binds with high affinity to dopamine D2 receptors on lactotroph cells in the anterior pituitary. Activating these receptors inhibits prolactin synthesis and its release into the bloodstream.

Its long half life extends its action for several days. Excessive intake therefore produces effects that persist over time.

Assessing the Need During a Cycle

During a cycle involving nandrolone or trenbolone, cabergoline use should be based on a confirmed elevation in prolactin and an assessment of the hormonal blood test results.

Reduced libido, erectile difficulties, breast tenderness and water retention have several possible causes, including estradiol, androgen balance, blood pressure, stress and other medications. Prolactin test results should be interpreted alongside these factors.
